The backside of the coal bin.

Coal bins of this design were common in the midwest. This coal bin is 60' long and 14' wide. The sides are 7'3" from the ground and the peak rises to 12'6". There are 4 ground level doors (4' wide) on the back side and 4 hatches in the side of the roof facing the tracks. A gondola would be spotted by the bin and would be hand shoveled into the bin through the roof hatches.
